From Linux & Open Source @ NUS

Contents

Some history...

linuxNUS started off on 6 July 2005 as a simple Yahoo! Group. The main intention was to form a community of Linux users in the National University of Singapore (NUS) who would be able to help and support each other, much like Linux User Group Singapore (LUGS) does for Singapore.
As the group grew, the Core Team was formed and the proposal was submitted to the NUS Office of Student Affairs (OSA). On 7 October, linuxNUS was officially approved as an official Student Interest Group.

About us...

linuxNUS' members are mainly students in NUS who are either actively using Linux or are interested in doing so. There are also some members on the mailing list who are simply interested in learning more. Whatever the case, we welcome everybody! =)

Our aims...

First and foremost, we hope to be able to build a cohesive community of Linux and Open Source users within NUS. Secondly, we hope to spread the word of the advantages of using Free software over proprietary software.

So...

If you feel very strongly about promoting and advancing the Open Source movement within NUS, feel free to join our team! We have various departments, ranging from the Core Team, to Marketing, to Web Development, each with its own set of requirements. So if you think you'd like to contribute, please do contact us at join_us AT linuxNUS DOT org right away!
