Dialup
You will need some luck to setup your dialup connection in Linux. Googling with the search string "linmodem" is a good start.
Broadband
It is best to use an ethernet modem. This is supported in Linux. For USB modems, there is limited support.
Singnet
The following settings may be applicable to the configuration of your broadband modem/router. For the most accurate settings, it is always best to call the Singnet helpdesk. Credit to blogger Aobis

Singnet has always used PVC 0/100 for the residential lines. Some business plans may differ. PPPoA, VCMUX is also supported. Same goes for PacNet, as they use the same infrastructure. --Khcheng 16:00, 19 May 2007 (SGT)
