Below is the draft plan for the Intro Linux talk on 24th Aug 2006 (5pm-7pm). Please direct your constructive criticisms to the talk section of this wikipage. Objectives

Primary

  • In collaboration with Compclub, conduct an introductory Linux talk to SOC (and maybe Engineering students)
  • And in so doing make them more interested in finding out more about Linux and Open Source.

Secondary

  • To serve as an additional platform to raise awareness about linuxNUS and the upcoming welcome tea.

Lecture announcements

Liaising with lecturers of Lvl 1000 CS modules. Of course a slide or two needs to be done for these. What catchy and innovative way can we use to make the announcement?

Manning of promotional booth

Basically just hog a bench near the pink tables squat there with a big poster and encourage students to come for the talk and answer simple queries.

We need to come up with a rooster for this.

Logistics

  • Preparation of 50 Linux CDS: There's an agreement with CompClub that we will give away free Linux CDs. We would need to confirm the distribution to give out. Testing needs to be done. Suggestions:
    • Knoppix 5.0.1
    • Accelerated Knoppix 5.0.1
  • Putting up of Posters/Sign postings leading up to venue.
