A short history of our club and its life to date!

We'll take a short look here about the advantages and disadvantages of running Linux as your OS of choice within NUS. This will be a short sharing session from our members' experience so far.

New to Linux? Confused by the multitude of distros available? Here we take a look at the various distros and help you make your decision

Basic tips everyone should know about locking down your system.
5) Virtualisation - best of both worlds
Don't want to let Windows die? Have that irritating program you need that just doesn't have an equivalent in the Linux/Open Source world? Here's how you can run both Linux and Windows at the same time using VMWare.

1) Updates on APBioKnoppix Remastering
Ever wanted to learn about remastering? Our APBioKnoppix team will give a short presentation. Here are the slides.
2) Wireless AP Mapping
Here we're trying out something new =) The aim here, is to create a sort of map of the wireless APs in
NUS.. and categorise them by location.. and store them in a database.. Then, maybe we can use it as a
sort of location tracking system =)
So... we'll need to collect AP info of course =)
Tools required:
1) Wireless enabled laptop
2) Wireless tool of choice (kismet, iwlist scan)
3) Automation scripts of your choice

3D desktop from Sun. Remains to be confirmed though.. we'll try to get a
machine powerful enough to run it =)
4) Planning for the future
Here's an event to attend if you're interested in planning for events with
linuxNUS. We're looking at the types of events we can organise for the coming
sem, and how we can attract more members =)
